CAL AKARA

Cal Akara (b. 1991, Bradford, UK) is a contemporary artist living and working nomadically. He travels the world creating paintings on linen and walls.

With a studio practice that has a strong relationship with the inner sciences, Cal makes art to explore the connection between our internal and external landscapes, using abstract mark-making to arrange inspiration from dreams, visions & life experiences into saturated surreal montages.
Currently, he represents himself independently, though has exhibited at international art fairs in Singapore, New York & London, as well as self produced solo shows in the United Kingdom. His mural work has been embraced by various diverse communities as he continues to share his distinctive, vibrant painting style worldwide.

The name Akara, drawn from the Sanskrit meaning 'form', reflects his practice as an investigation into the seen and unseen worlds. It is a name used with honour and respect for the tradition that has transformed his life - from one of mental health battles to a devoted student & teacher of traditional yoga.
