CAL AKARA
Cal Akara (b. 1991, Bradford, UK) is a nomadic artist & facilitator. Since 2022 he has travelled internationally, offering workshops to inspire the creative mind and developing a body of neo-surrealist paintings on linen and walls exploring the human inner landscape.
Integrating meditative practices into his methodology, Cal uses traditional yoga techniques to explore the visual and conceptual aspects of consciousness and perception as he paints travel landscapes and memories into delicate, saturated scenes. Each work, carefully uses negative space of natural background to draw the viewer into a moment of introspection, creating space for contemplation on the relationship between the inner and outer human experience.
The pivotal development of Cal’s practice took place during multiple residencies in India between 2022 & 2024. He represents himself independently and has exhibited at international art fairs in Singapore, New York, and London, alongside self-produced solo shows in the United Kingdom. His murals have been embraced by diverse communities, sharing his distinctive, vibrant painting style worldwide.
